Moments! Everyone's talking about them, everyone is posting them, you already know what they are, but HOW can we post GOOD moments, that will attract more students and more bookings? Read on for some top tips!
MAKE YOUR PHOTOS STAND OUT
The most important step in attracting customers in any kind of market is to STAND OUT! Make the photos you use in your moments POP! There are thousands of moments being posted constantly on Palfish, so in order to attract potential students to your profile you must ensure that you post good quality photos that will be bright, interesting and grab their attention!
We can use a simple photo editor to enhance the colour of our photos and make it more vibrant and appealing.
Also, if posting more than one photo in a moment, try to chose varied photos, with different colours in or different scenery. If you're posting a few photos of scenery, try to throw in maybe one that has an animal or a person in, just something different to spice it up so all the photos don't look identical!
KEEP IT SIMPLE
Don't over-complicate it or over-think it! We are kids teachers, so imagine you are talking to one of the students when you are writing your captions! There is no point writing a whole essay, no matter how good it is. If the student or parent doesn't understand or can't read your moment, they aren't likely to look any further, or be tempted to book with you.
Simple sentences, such as 'This is where I live!' , 'I had a great day in...' 'This is a....' will get you far as students can easily read and understand! Short snappy sentences will capture the viewers attention, so lets not waffle too much! (mmm waffles...)
POST A CLASSROOM SCREENSHOT
This one was a game changer for me!! If you can take a screenshot of a fun or cute moment in class, maybe you drew a rainbow together, or a cute monkey, then use it! Show potential students how great your classes are!
I found as soon as i started to post little glimpses and screenshots into my classroom my bookings really increased!!
Just make sure to protect your students privacy by covering their face, and blacking out their name! You can do this in a cute way by using a nice sticker on a photo editing app.
USE ALL FORMS OF MOMENTS
We have a variety of moment forms at our disposal such as
Palfish Reading App Books
So let's use them! Try and mix it up, don't post constant photo moments, or only reading app books, or your profile will began to look boring and samey.
Maybe one day post a video moment, and then make the next moment you post some photos, or a voice message!
Remember, most students or parents might only look at the last 10 moments you posted when they view your profile, so we want to make sure we are always keeping the moments we post fresh and varied!
ENGAGE YOUR AUDIENCE
Engage with your audience!! Ask questions! Involve the students!
Try and make your moments fun but also educational, so the student can practice their English, as this is very appealing. For instance, I posted this moment pictured here, and simply asked the question: 'What is your favourite snack?' An easy question, but gives students chance to practice their English, and also encourages them to interact with your posts and potentially follow and book with you! Students love to get involved and practice their English.
Don't be discouraged if they don't comment on your posts at first, they are all answering these little questions in their heads and it is still an excellent way to engage your audience ;)
CONSIDER YOUR MARKET
Who do you want to teach? If you are focused on teaching Official Kids Course students, you will want to aim your moments at that market! So consider this market when posting.
Ask yourself: If I was a kid/ parent, what would I expect/want to see on a prospective teachers page?
As we discussed earlier, that includes thinking about making our wording simple, and also thinking about our market with what kind of content we are posting!
For example, if you post a photo of you on a night out, with all your girl/boy friends, will that really appeal to young kids or parents? Probably not...
So think about your audience, and keep your moments kid friendly, happy and light!
(Side note: If you're reading this post but you are more focused on teaching Free Talks or older students, these tips can still apply, just make sure you are always thinking about what kind of market you are aiming towards when you post your moments!)
DON'T GIVE UP!
So these are some top tips on how to post good moments and attract new students! By combining all these tips together and continuing with them, you will see an increase in bookings and followers! Even if you don't see this happen immediately, or you might not being getting that many likes, don't feel discoouraged! Keep at it, posting 2-4 moments a day and you will see good results! ( I don't get many likes on my moments but I now have a full schedule, so the proof is in the pudding, as we British say ;) )
Happy momenting everyone!
